Album Review: Anna Secret Poet- I Saw This And Thought Of You

Friend of Hit The North and all -round legend Anna Secret Poet is back with arguably her most epic album to date. There’s some introspection wrapped in a piledriving anthem (‘Aimless’) a soupcon of cheeky country grunge with ricocheting guitars (‘ Old Unfaithful ‘) and the typical eccentricity we’ve come to associate with her song writing (‘ Eat Like A Butterfly, Shit Like A Bee’).

But my absolute favourite is the opening track ‘ The Now’. It’s a big, bold strut , equal parts electro, glam and punk. Anna haś widened her sonic influences here, and the experimentation has more than paid off. She deserves to headline on big festival stages.

That she writes, records and produces it all herself is all the more impressive. She’s a true independent spirit. Forget the bucket hats, it’s looking more like an Anna Summer.
