The Avalanches’ debut ‘Since I Left You’ is still an absolute doozy. I like this track very much. You have to admire a band who can fuse old western soundtracks with kitschy jazz and Francine Fishpaw (Divine) from ‘Polyester’
It’s an absolute banger. I worked in retail in Glasgow for a long time, and to alleviate the boredom, we’d go:”You’re a nut! You’re crazy in the coconut,” to each other, or, “He was white as a sheet..and he also made false teeth”. Sure, it’s a bit “file under wacky”, but it’s a bop and a half. Fun video, too.
