Possibly, Definitely, Actually… Maybe…

Whisper it, but it appears that the feuding Gallagher bros Lennon and Brains are actually getting the band back together. Yes, Ahr Kid and Songwriter Kid are apparently reforming Oasis. The overrated monobrows will be touring next year. I’m with the ever-quotable Bjork who described Oasis as “bad boy scout music”. Their laddish, Beatles -worshipping retro pop never really spoke to me in the 90s.I was into Bikini Kill, The Fall, Huggy Bear, Mudhoney, Daniel Johnston, and Babes in Toyland, Fun-da-Mental and countless oddball Peel artists.

Money talks though, people like ’em, and here we are: Knobworth 25 (Not a typo). It got me pondering…who’s left to reform? The Smiths wouldn’t work as a trio, and forget about White Stripes.

Happy Mondays. The new album, The Horlicks Tapes sees the former scallies ruminating on the vagaries of middle age with banging tunes like ‘Garden Centre Flashback’ and the searing ‘Bez’s Bad Knees’. Produced and mixed by Youth, who’s relishing the irony.

BA. Half of ABBA, comprising Benny and Anni-frid, due to Agnetha’s notorious fear of flying and stage fright and an “otherwise indisposed” Bjorn, this promises to be a more pared -back, Unplugged proposition. Not a sparkly hologram in sight. Bah!

Sade. Well, all the young jazz kids are ripping her vocal style off now, so it would be the perfect time to stage a comeback. ‘Marginally Less Smooth Operator’ is the first single lifted from the remix album, ‘Diamonique Life’ , inspired by the tat you get on QVC. Critics may say standards are slipping. Critics are right.
