Maybe it’s because I’m an old goth at heart, but I like the romance of fading flowers and plants during autumn and winter. It’s as close to nostalgia as I dare to go. The colours are more subtle and make me wish I was blessed with green fingers. Sadly, lazy as I am, I leaveContinue reading “Plants and Fading Flowers”

Samhain, Perthshire, Part 2
I hope everyone’s Spooky Season is smashing (pumpkins). Here are some from this year.
Samhain, Perthshire
I took these pics last year. The whole town gets involved in spooky -ooky displays everywhere and they look great. Some more from this year coming up…
Late May Sunset
I like the peace of sunsets after temperamental Scottish spring weather. Bring on the sunnier days. I just couldn’t capture how pink it was.

Blossom, Dearie

The Arts Are Not A Luxury
I grew up in a small working- class rural town in Perthshire, Scotland. Nothing much happened there; we didn’t have much money and TV was our only dose of culture. In my house, books were shoved into cupboards, hidden away like skeletons, and theatre, with the exception of am- dram panto, wasn’t “for the likesContinue reading “The Arts Are Not A Luxury”
Film Review: Arena- Cindy Sherman #Untitled
Claire Beaven’s film for Arena, which focuses on one of American contemporary art’s true trailblazers, photographer and film maker Cindy Sherman, is absolutely fascinating. Because Sherman still remains camera -shy when not in one of her (in)famous disguises, there are older, rare interviews interwoven into the film, and a nice updated voiceover from Sherman (withContinue reading “Film Review: Arena- Cindy Sherman #Untitled”
