Look at this clip. Are Wet Leg for real? I had the misfortune to recently review their latest album, Moisturizer, for The Wee Review, and gave it two stars. The music is incredibly watered down indie, with vapid, adolescent lyrics. And the way they present themselves is cloying, as insincere as the sound they make. I just don’t believe them.
Tastemakers everywhere – from the NME to BBC 6Music – are all over Rhian and Hester. they frequently get rave reviews across the board. But the failure to say anything of any substance, plus the twee posturing, is not becoming of two grown women. It all seems like a contrivance.
It’s positively vomit- inducing. Reading Kathleen Hanna ‘s memoir recently, plus witnessing great emerging bands like Problem Patterns and Lambrini Girls, only expose artists like Wet Leg. I don’t like trashing artists, but we deserve better. This is indie lite.
not a lot of donut customers today, so I decided to check them out on YouTube.
found a tiny desk concert.
and … I totally get what you mean.
