Nadine Shah Returns!

The ever wonderful Nadine Shah is back, with a typically provocative song title. Topless Mother is out now, and she’s doing what she does best – music that’s both brilliant indie pop with a fierce bite, and a bit of soul. She’s always one to play with genre.

Never one to rest on her laurels (she recently played Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Northern Stage) it’s lovely to see her making music again. She makes consistently perfect singles.

One of the most open, expressive singer -songwriters around, Shah never disappoints. The new album, her fifth, which will be titled Filthy Underneath, is due out in February. On the strength of this, it’s going to be amazing. She said she’s been listening to “loads of glam rock” , so who knows? Perhaps this will be her Roxy Music period.
