Tron Theatre Autumn Season

Since 2008, Andy Arnold has been the Artistic Director of Glasgow ‘s legendary Tron Theatre. But this autumn winter season marks what will be his last. He confessed to having “very mixed emotions” upon leaving his tenure.

His 40th show as director is receiving a world premiere on Thursr, 19th October. It’s from the ever- wonderful Gary McNair, and is his singular, undoubtedly mischievous take on Dickens, Nae Expectations. Starring Gavin Jon Wright, Karen Dunbar and Gerry Mulgrew, it’s going to be typically irreverent and original.

King of panto, Johnny McKnight, also returns with a favourite character, Aganeza Scrooge. It’ll be warm, uproarious and full of layers: pop culture; wordplay and innuendo.

More political in scope, playwright Ed Edwards has written a one man show for comedian and performer Mark Thomas. Titled England&Son, it’s sure to resonate with anyone familiar with his brilliant two-hander, The Political History of Smack And Crack.

Nostalgia loving audiences can see Battery Park, a music- infused pay about a Britpop era indie band from Greenock. There will be guitars, bad behaviour and a fuck- load of swearing. It’s penned by Andy McGregor and the songs are co-written with Isla Cowan. Dust off your vintage long sleeve T shirts, original Converse and ironic kirby grips.

Also featuring songs, youthful dreams and a sense of nostalgia, but set further north, My Doric Diary, by Katie Barnett, looks at a second chance at relationships. Originally performed at A Play, A Pie and A Pint, it’s sure to be a crowd pleaser.
