Times are hard right now. Weather’s horrible, war rages across the globe, civil rights are being eroded, climate change becomes increasingly apparent on a daily basis. Our leaders aren’t helping, putting profit before people. Democracy is important, but so too, is resistance to the forces of oppression.
At times like this, it’s hard not to doom scroll and hide under a duvet, hoping we can emerge as though from a cocoon, more fully formed. Caterpillars become butterflies. Kittens grow into cats. We’re constantly in a state of flux, shedding skins. Let’s just sink into this brilliant song, and enjoy the video. It’s like LCD Soundsystem styled like Leigh Bowery, and it makes me wiggle and smile. Hooray for the redemptive power of music. Hooray for Lynks and the brilliant pop of New Boyfriend.
