Monkey Dust could be the darkest animation ever shown on TV. Forget cats called Fritz, Cartman and co or even Quagmire on the vastly overrated Family Guy, this was brutal.
Created by the truly warped minds of Harry Thompson and Shaun Pye, characters such as the Meat Safe Murderer, Pretentious Hipsters and Paedophile Finder General were a parallel, only somewhat exaggerated pastiche of mid-noughties broken Britain.

It was merciless all right, with no taboo left unprodded…. Racism, bestiality, politics, social etiquette, snobbery, the family unit…nothing was off limits.
Hilarious, weirdly accurate, shocking and often strangely full of pathos, you laughed as you gasped. The sad, untimely passing of Thompson meant that the show’s run wasn’t extended, but that’s probably for the best. “Leave audiences wanting more”, is the idiom. Cancel culture means it may never be repeated. I think of it fondly, and often, like that one friend who always takes the joke too far.We shall never see its like again.
mid-noughties, I never heard that before
